Hersonisos
A major resort established many years yet it still maintains a lure
for first-timers and returning regulars. In recent years it has also
become a property hotspot, popular with many north Europeans.
The harbour is still home to a small fishing fleet but today is a
popular place for water based exploring, with many boat trips to
other parts of the island and for diving and sea observation.
Along the harbour front there is also a substantial array of fine
eating and drinking establishments with a wide selection both Greek
and international cuisine. There are good opportunities in the
property market, for either business or personal development, and

There are several beaches along the coast and a fine variety of
hotels and resort establishments.
Hersonisos is also home to a wide variety of shopping from small

and has the advantage of being close to the capital and the main

Malia
This is next to Stalis on the same bay, and has established itself
as the young capital of the island. There are a number of property
opportunities especially with business in mind. The small town of
Malia however exists next to the resort area and is an agricultural
area of some repute growing bananas and some wonderful potatoes.
There are some agricultural property opportunities, which might suit
those in semi-retirement.
As a lively resort there is everything for those who enjoy the ways
of excess, a wide variety of cafes and bars many with their own
discos, however there is also a sizeable selection of restaurants
with a range of different cuisines. There are many properties which
lend themselves to tourism, however close by there are excellent
properties which would provide opportunities for either investment
or for personal use, as permanent home or as holiday accommodation.
Whilst Malia is primarily for those seeking sun, sea and sand,
alternatives exist, there is an excellent archeological site with a
magnificent Minoan Palace showing that the attraction of property in
the area is of long standing.
Close to the main road, with good public transport and access to the
island capital and airport, makes for an ideal place for those who
are young at heart.
